The 2024/25 Métiers d’art collection celebrates the CHANEL Maisons d’art and explores an essential component of Gabrielle Chanel’s imagination: the Chinese lacquer screens that inspired her all her life, and that still adorn the walls of her apartment at 31, rue Cambon in Paris. The one in her office depicts the city of Hangzhou, China, and its legendary lake, where the show took place last December.
Romantic silhouettes reflect the beauty of the lake and the luxuriant nature around it, through motifs of camellias, lotus flowers and bird embroideries, while phosphorescent braids and silk satin linings reveal an exceptional attention to detail. From deep black to misty pastel shades, the allure of the collection is both glamorous and enigmatic.
